James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless yet relevant piece and rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife who wish to have a child, Cinderella who wishes to attend the King’s Festival, and Jack who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
The musical was adapted into a feature film by Disney in 2014 which has increased its popularity greatly. One of Sondheim’s most popular works, Into The Woods is a musically sophisticated show with dark comedy and fantastical elements.
Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Book by James Lapine, Original directed on Broadway by James Lapine, Orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. INTO THE WOODS is presented by Special Arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI) 421 W. 54th Street, 2nd Fl., New York, NY 10019 Phone: (212) 541-4684 | www.MTIShows.com

Since 2008, Center Stage Theatre’s A Christmas Carol has become Downtown Goldsboro tradition. CST continues to improve upon the annual production with the addition of gorgeously painted backdrops and improved special effects.
In A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens invented the modern concept of “Christmas Spirit;” we know Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future not only as fictional characters, but as representations of the true meaning of Christmas. Join us as we experience Scrooge’s astonishing personal transformation from “Bah! Humbug!” to “Merry Christmas!” Click here to learn more about CST’s annual production of A Christmas Carol.

Bye Bye Birdie is one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type rock and roll singer, is about to be inducted into the army. He has the pompadour and thick sideburns; the gaudy gold costumes and speaks in a rugged voice. Albert Peterson, Conrad’s agent, and his faithful secretary and long suffering girlfriend, Rose Alvarez, concoct one final publicity stunt; Conrad will bid a typical teen-age girl goodbye with an all-American kiss.
Bye Bye Birdie is a satire done with the fondest affection. It gives an insight into the everyday life that is very much part of us all. Hit numbers from the show include “Rosie,” “Honestly Sincere,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do” and the timeless classic “Put on a Happy Face.”

New name…same old antics! Formerly our annual “Evening of One-Acts,” the Local Playwright One-Act Festival gives local writers the opportunity to see their original works performed in a theatre setting. Unlike our mainstage shows, the Festival does not require any formal auditions and plenty of roles are always available. The troupe will perform a selection of locally written one-act skits (all less than 10 minutes long).
